Back To Work – Helping To Prevent The Spread Of Coronavirus

With people who cannot work from home now being “actively encouraged” to return to work by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, taking the required steps to maximise the safety of both staff and customers has taken on paramount importance.

Health and Safety at Work

If you are planning to re-open your workplace, it is essential that you understand the steps which must be taken to make it Covid-19 secure.

All employers already have a number of statutory duties which must be adhered to in order to provide a safe place of work. Alongside these duties, there are also a number of general legal duties of care designed for anyone accessing or using your place of business.

To discharge these duties, the following steps must be carried out:

  • Carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments to identify the risks. Risk assessments should also look at different groups of workers (e.g. vulnerable workers), for whom you may need to take extra health and safety measures.
  • Implement measures to minimise those risks. You must take all reasonably practicable steps to minimise the risks. This is not the same as having to eliminate the risks altogether.

Clearly, with the current Coronavirus crisis, these duties now carry even more importance.

To clarify what you need to do, you should refer to the relevant sector-specific guide contained in the government’s guidance on working safely during coronavirus.

Product Catalogue Available

Ranging from desk screen protectors all the way to floor markings and direction arrows, we have a range of products available to help increase safety levels and ensure compliance with these duties as businesses put plans in place to facilitate a return to work.

Our product catalogue features a range of leaflets, posters and floor graphics that can be used in the workplace, providing information and advice for managers and staff.

Branded versions, incorporating your company logo and brand colours, are available upon request. Changes to overall design, typography and illustrations/icons would require the production of custom designs, which our safety team would be happy to discuss with you.

Professional Signage

Providing vital information on how to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus with professional signage will help to keep people informed on the practical steps which must be taken to keep themselves and others safe and healthy.

Floor Stickers

Help to keep your team safe from Coronavirus with our range of social distancing floor stickers.

Designed to help attract customers’ attention to the importance of social distancing, these floor stickers are easy to fit, hardwearing and makes it as easy as possible to positively impact the awareness of social distancing guidelines.

Face Shields

Face shields are personal protective equipment devices that are used by many workers (e.g. medical, dental, veterinary) for protection of the facial area and
associated mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth) from splashes, sprays, and spatter of body fluids.

During the COVID19 crisis, it would be sensible for those working in other service areas to be equipped with these to further prevent the spread of the virus.

For food retailers, vehicle service centres, reception staff, admin support staff in medical centres it could well become mandatory to wear these for the next few months.

Protecting Our Local Care Homes

We’ve been in contact with local care homes and arranged to donate face shields to them.

But we need your help with a couple of options available

  1. Simply clicking on the button below will allow you to donate a face shield (each face shield costs £2.00, the minimum donation is £2.00, the maximum is up to you). We’ll arrange for the face shield to be delivered.

The Top 4 Benefits Of Sun Control Window Film

For many people, sunlight streaming through their window is something to be enjoyed. However, for some businesses, unfiltered sunlight can actually be costly, damaging and something that needs addressing quickly.

Fading caused by the sun can be an expensive problem for a huge variety of businesses. With UV rays, heat and light from the sun all contributing towards fading, stock, furniture and fabric can all fall victim to the damaging effects of unfiltered sunlight.

Sun/Solar Control Window Film

There are a number of different types of window film available to help protect your stock against the threat of sun damage, all without negatively impacting the view or aesthetics of your window.

The installation of specialist sun control window film will allow you to:

  1. Maximise your window display without the fear of the sun
  2. Save yourself the time and hassle of constantly changing the display
  3. Our protective films significantly reduce fading by rejecting up to 99.9% of harmful UV rays and 97% of infra-red heat.
  4. Films that reject less than 99% of UV will not offer adequate levels of protection!!!

Our range of sun control window film has been handpicked to ensure that it offers only the best possible attributes without compromising the aesthetics of your property in any way.

What Causes Fabrics To Fade?

It is all about the chemical makeup of an object. The technical term for colour fading is photo degradation. There are light absorbing colour bodies called chromophores that are present in dyes. The colour(s) we see are based upon these chemical bonds and the amount of light that is absorbed in a particular wavelength.

Ultraviolet rays from the sun have the ability to break down the chemical bonds and thus fade the colour(s) in an object – it is a bleaching effect. Some objects may be more prone to fading, such as dyed textiles and watercolours. Other objects may reflect the light more, which makes them less prone to fade.

For more on this –

As you can see from the pie chart above, the causes of fading can be varied. Approximately 40% of fabric fading can be attributed to the UV lights from the sun.

Heat and light contribute approximately 25% each with the remaining 10% caused by other factors including poor ventilation, poor quality dyes and the effects of artificial light.

Allaying Common Concerns

One of the most common questions we receive relates to concerns about the exterior of your property being negatively impacted either in regards to how it looks or restrictions placed on the amount of light that can come through the window, however there is no need to worry about these concerns when dealing with WF Glazing Protection.

Improve Heat Control and Privacy Levels For Your Home This Summer

Solar Gard® Sentinel™ Plus is Solar Gard’s range of exterior window films – which provide maximum heat rejection by being the first line of defence against solar heat and glare.

Whilst window film has been used for many years in the commercial world to provide a more comfortable working environment, advances in technology now ensure that you can enjoy precisely the same benefits for your home – with the same high level of service, too.

Perhaps you’ve had conservatory blinds fitted, or maybe you’re considering it. It’s one option. Blinds are not necessarily the answer though. Cleaning off dust and flies can be a hassle, plus blinds can block your view and cut out light. And, of course, when they’re pulled up, the sun still fades your furnishings.

Designed to offer the best experience in terms of comfort, energy savings, and aesthetics, this range of solar control window films are customised to meet your needs.

Key Benefits of Solar Gard® Sentinel™ Window Film

  • Filming the exterior maximizes heat rejection with up to 82% Total Solar Energy Rejected

  • Provides a refreshed and uniform look to dated buildings

  • Maximum heat rejection also means maximum saving on air conditioning costs

  • UV blockers protect people and property from damaging UV rays

Recent Installation

Absolutely ideal for a variety of different uses, the installation of different varieties of window film can be used to improve privacy levels, reduce glare and even offer solar control properties.

We recently installed Solar Gard® Sentinel™ Silver20 OSW reflective window film to help reduce maximum levels of the sun’s heat for comfort and provide a mirror finish which we think compliments this beautiful home and garden.

Not only does window film offer a highly effective way of enhancing a property, but it also offers a highly affordable, along with quickly and easily installed, method of enhancing your property.

Improving Wellbeing At Home

In a previous article, we focused upon the importance of taking steps to help improve wellbeing in the workplace. With the current situation facing the world, many people are now having to work from home. This does not mean that taking positive steps to improve your mental wellbeing should be put on the backburner, in fact, quite the opposite.

From effectively dealing with issues such as overheating and glare to privacy, safety and even anti-vandalism, the installation of window film to almost any property offers cost-effective, low maintenance and long-term solution.

What Actually is Wellbeing?

Before discussing how the wellbeing of individuals can be improved, we must first provide a little background information.

The general term “wellbeing” covers a number of aspects of the way people feel about their lives, including their jobs, and their relationships with the people around them.

Whilst it is true that the wellbeing of anyone concerns areas of their life including their own character along with their home/social life, research has concluded that employers can have a significant influence on the sense of wellbeing of their employees by helping to improve the overall working conditions of the workplace.

Maximising Performance

The individual wellbeing of your employees is now widely acknowledged to play a crucial role in helping to improve workplace performance.

A recent and comprehensive study* has suggested that working to achieve an improvement in wellbeing will result in improved workplace performance in a number of areas.

These include:

  • Profitability (financial performance of your business)
  • Labour Productivity
  • Output/Service Improvements.

Job satisfaction – including key aspects such as satisfaction with training, skills development opportunities, how much autonomy employees have in their role are also acknowledged to be positively impacted by improving levels of wellbeing in the working environment.

What Steps Can Be Taken To Improve Wellbeing Using Window Film?

With so many different types of the working environment, there really is no ‘one size fits all’ but this does not mean that key improvements are difficult to achieve and the installation of window film can play a critical role in a number of areas.

Glare control, in particular, is essential for all working environments as the visual discomfort caused by an inability to see screens, notice boards and workstations can negatively impact the ability of any workforce.

Whatever your needs are, we have the window film solution for you here at WF Glazing Protection Ltd. Contact us today on telephone at 0345 337 4751 or the quick contact form to the right of your screen for a call back to talk to a member of our team about the best options for you.
