- Solar Heat Gain can add significantly to cooling costs
- Use of blinds can add to lighting costs
Solar Heat Gain
Power and heating costs have risen substantially over the past 3 years in the commercial building environment and carbon footprint taxation is on the horizon.
During summer months, solar heat gain adds to the thermal load of a building.
Effective use of solar control window film can reduce heat gain by up to 82% significantly lowering the load on air-conditioning units thus saving energy and costs.
Natural Daylighting
Lighting typically contributes to 25% of overall energy consumption in commercial environments. In many offices, lights will be in use during daylight hours whilst blinds are drawn.
The latest technology window films will reject solar heat gain yet allow high levels of light transmission to illuminate the building naturally.
The Clinton Foundation
Both of our main suppliers, 3M and SolarGard, have the only window films to be approved by the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Climate Initiative promotes the use of clean energy technology in major world cities to reduce an organisation’s carbon footprint.
“Climate change is a global issue that we must address immediately if we are to reverse its catastrophic effects.”
Bill Clinton

UK Sustainable Development Association
We are proud to announce our membership and support to the UK Sustainable Development Association. Formed in response to the well-recognised need to make better use of the Earth’s resources, the Association and its members aim to address these problems by encouraging the faster take up of sustainable technologies and services.
Members are experts in all the technologies and techniques required to reduce the impact of the existing built environment and of new building projects. The Association is therefore a resource available to assist both the public and private sectors in formulating carbon footprint policies at national, regional and local level.
The Carbon Reduction Commitment
Business and public sectors generate over a third of UK CO2 Emissions.
The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is an emissions trading scheme to deliver carbon reductions and cost savings starting in April 2010 as part of the Government’s Climate Change Act 2008.
The aim is to reduce carbon emissions in large non-energy intensive organisations such as supermarket chains, office based corporations, hotel chains and large local authorities by 1.2 million tonnes of carbon each year by 2020.
At the end of each year company performance based on absolute carbon reductions will be summarised in league tables and Government bonuses will be paid to the top performing organisations.
ACT NOW. The installation of solar control window film will reduce your company’s dependence upon air-conditioning providing long-term reductions in carbon emissions and energy costs.
Combined with helping to lower the additional burden of the Climate Change Levy, solar control film can make a significant impact to your organisation’s overall energy strategy and carbon footprint.

3M Ford Motor Company
Ford Motor Company found it challenging to maintain comfortable temperatures for employees year-round
in its 40-year-old headquarters in Detroit, a 12-story building faced almost entirely with glass. Glare from
the sun also made it difficult for employees in the building to see computer screens.
